One company that is continuously making strides towards this admirable goal is Higher Steaks. Higher Steaks is a food tech company that is currently focused on creating lab-grown pork as well as advancing the cellular agriculture industry as a whole.
Higher Steaks was founded two years ago by CEO Benjamina Bollag. Since then, Higher Steaks has been able to develop various hybrid cellular agriculture products, many of them being the first of their kind.
On July 21, 2020, Higher Steaks created the first cultivated bacon and pork belly, which had never been developed before. The bacon was made of 70% of lab-grown meat and the pork belly was made up of 50% of cultivated meat. The remaining percentage was made up of proteins, fats, starches, and plant-based materials.
